What should you watch out for when connecting a SIMATIC HMI device configured with WinCC flexible ES to a SIMATIC ET 200 CPU?

Configuration Notes:
Please note the following points if you wish to connect a SIMATIC HMI operator panel to an ET 200-CPU:

Properties of the ET 200-CPUs

  • ET 200S CPU:
    The IM151-7 CPUs of ET 200S have an MPI/ DP interface:
    In the MPI subnetwork you can use the HMI operator panel to operate the ET 200S CPU via the integrated MPI interface.
    On the PROFIBUS DP the integrated DP interface of the ET 200S CPU can only be used as a DP slave, i.e. in addition to the HMI operator panel you need a DP master (e.g. S7-300 CPU316-2DP) that operates the IM 151-7 CPU as a DP slave.

    If the IM151-7 CPU is operated without DP master on the PROFIBUS DP, communication with the HMI operator works, but a bus error is displayed on the IM151-7 CPU.

    Note:
    With the DP master module (order number: 6ES7138-4HA00-0AB0), which you slot directly next to the ET 200S CPU, you can add a DP interface to the ET 200S, which is configured as DP master. With this master interface module it is then possible to operate the ET 200S without any other DP master on the PROFIBUS DP.

    Requirements:
    In order to be able to use the DP interface on the master interface module you require a CPU, order number 6ES7151-7AA10-0AB0, and firmware version V2.1 or higher.

  • ET 200X CPU:
    The BM147-1 CPUs of ET 200X have an MPI/ DP interface:
    In the MPI subnetwork you can use the HMI operator panel to operate the ET 200X CPU via the interface parameterized as MPI.
    On the PROFIBUS-DP the ET 200X CPU (BM 147-1) can only be used as a DP slave, i.e. in addition to the HMI operator panel you need a DP master (e.g. S7-300 CPU316-2DP) that operates the BM 147-1 as a DP slave.

    The BM147-2 CPUs of ET 200X have an MPI/ DP interface that can be parameterized as MPI or as a DP slave, and another DP master interface.
    In the MPI subnetwork you can use an HMI operator panel to operate the ET 200X CPU via the interface parameterized as MPI.
    On the PROFIBUS DP the ET 200X CPU BM 147-2 can operate on the one hand as a DP slave with an additional DP master (e.g. an S7-300 CPU 315-2DP). On the other hand the BM147-2 CPU can also communicate as DP master with the HMI operator panel via the DP master interface.

Warning:
The ET 200-CPU is configured in the SIMATIC Manager in a
SIMATIC S7-300 station.

Options for connecting an HMI operator panel to the ET 200 CPUs

Connecting the HMI operator panel via MPI to the ET 200 CPU
You can connect the HMI operator panel via MPI directly to an IM151 CPU or BM147 CPU.

Setting in the STEP 7 Hardware Configuration
In the Properties dialog of the MPI/DP interface of the ET 200 CPU you set the type of interface to MPI and then connect the station to the MPI subnetwork.

Double-click the HMI MPI/DP interface of the HMI station and network this via MPI with the ET 200 CPU.

Enabling the connection in WinCC flexible ES
Open the HMI station with WinCC flexible ES. Under Communication > Connections you enable the connection already created to the ET 200 CPU.

Connecting the HMI operator panel via PROFIBUS DP to the ET 200 CPU

  1. Version: CPU 316-2DP as DP master, ET200 CPU as DP slave
  2. Version: ET200S CPU with DP master module
  1. Version: CPU 316-2DP as DP master, ET200 CPU as DP slave

The ET 200 CPU is operated as DP slave on the PROFIBUS DP subnetwork, i.e. in addition to the HMI operator panel and the ET 200 CPU (IM151 CPU or BM147 CPU) you need a DP master (e.g. S7-300 CPU 316-2DP) on the PROFIBUS DP subnetwork.

Settings in the STEP 7 Hardware Configuration of the ET 200 CPU for supporting ALARM_S messages
In order for the ET 200 CPU to support the ALARM_S service, in the Properties of the DP interface of the IM151 CPU or BM147 CPU under Operating Mode you must enable the option Test, commissioning, routing.

Settings in the STEP 7 Hardware Configuration of the S7-300 DP master
Once you have networked the ET 200 CPU with PROFIBUS DP, open the Hardware Configuration of the DP master station (CPU 316-2DP) and there you configure the ET 200 CPU as a DP slave.

  1. Version: ET200S CPU with DP master module

The ET 200S is operated with the DP master interface module as DP master on the PROFIBUS DP. The HMI operator panel is connected to the master module via PROFIBUS.

Settings in the STEP 7 Hardware Configuration
Network the DP master module of the ET 200S with a newly created PROFIBUS network.
The master interface module is located in the Hardware Catalog in the project tree from which you configured the IM151-7 CPU.

Connecting the HMI operator panel (MPI) via routing (CPU 316-2DP: DP master) to the ET 200 CPU (DP slave)
The ET 200 CPU (IM151 CPU or BM147 CPU) is operated as a DP slave on an S7-300 CPU 316-2DP (DP master). The HMI operator panel is connected to the S7-300 via MPI. Via routing (MPI <-> PROFIBUS DP) a connection is set up between the HMI operator panel and the ET 200 CPU.

Settings in the STEP 7 Hardware Configuration of the ET 200 CPU for supporting ALARM_S messages
In order for the ET 200 CPU to support the ALARM_S service, in the Properties of the DP interface of the IM151 CPU or BM147 CPU under Operating Mode you must enable the option Test, commissioning, routing.

Settings in the STEP 7 Hardware Configuration
Once you have networked the ET 200 CPU with PROFIBUS DP, open the Hardware Configuration of the DP master station (CPU 316-2DP) and there you configure the ET 200 CPU as a DP slave. The S7-300 station must also be networked with MPI.

How do you send short messages (SMS) from an SIMATIC WinCC flexible HMI station to a mobile phone?

With WinCC flexible it is possible to send e-mails as short messages (SMS) to a mobile phone. You can send short messages with the following panels:
  • OP/TP177B color PN/DP
  • Mobile TP177 PN, Mobile Panel 277
  • 270 series
  • 370 series
  • PC with WinCC flexible Runtime

Example:
In case of failure the operator panel sends an e-mail (1) to the mixing station. The service technician responsible receives the message from the operator panel (2). The service technician then connects to the operator panel (3) from his service PC.

You have the following options for sending text messages or alarms via SMS to a mobile telephone or to a pager:

  • External providers make it possible to convert e-mails into SMS messages for mobile telephones and pagers.
  • Your own SMTP server supports forwarding of e-mails via SMS message to a mobile phone or pager.

Example for sending a message via SMS:

So that an SMS can be received the service must be registered beforehand with the provider, e.g. T-Mobile (in Germany).

  1. Activating e-mail reception with a provider (Example: T-Mobile):
    Send an SMS message from your mobile phone with the text "OPEN" to the T-Mobile abbreviated dialing number 8000. This opens your T-Mobile number for e-mail reception.
    Your e-mail address is then:
    T-Mobile number (incl. prefix)@t-mobile-sms.de
    e.g. 017100000000@t-mobile-sms.de.

    Up to 160 characters are transferred.

  1. Deactivating e-mail reception (Example: T-Mobile):
    If you no longer wish to receive e-mails, send an SMS message from your mobile phone with the text "CLOSE" to the T-Mobile abbreviated dialing number 8000.

  1. Configuration in WinCC flexible:

Note:
The e-mail functionality requires the license key "SIMATIC WinCC flexible / Sm@rtService".

In the WinCC flexible project tree "Bediengerät_1 > Device Settings > Device Settings", under "Name of SMTP server" you enter the name of the external provider or the name of your own SMTP server.

Note:
The provider must function without authentication. This means that the provider must work without user name and password.

You must make the settings under "Project > Device Settings" of the WinCC flexible project:

  • Name of the SMTP server
  • Name of the SMTP sender (as from WinCC flexible 2005)
  • SMTP authorization (as from WinCC flexible 2005)

Note:
The "Sm@rtService" option is required to implement this. To enable messages to be sent as e-mails as well, the HMI system must possess an e-mail client.

In the project attached "mailto.t-online.de" has been selected as SMTP server, because it doesn't need authentication.

Note:
The "Name of the SMTP sender" input field serves as the Return Address, in which you can specify the designation of the HMI operator panel or plant designation or its location, for example. You have the option of entering an e-mail address in the "SMTP Authentication" input field. If authentication at the provider is required, you must specify a valid e-mail address in the "SMTP Authentication" input field, e.g. "John.Doe@gmx.net".
Providers that require an authentication with user name and password are not supported.

Alternatively you can also define the e-mail settings on the operator panel in "WinCC Internet Settings" in the "E-mail" tab. On the Windows CE Panel the same settings are to be found in the "Control Panel". Then deselect the "Use the default of the project file" option and enter the name of the SMTP server in the input field. This makes it easier to change the server name.

Note:
Please note that settings on the panel or PC override settings in the project. Therefore, if the settings on the panel or PC are deleted, the defaults configured in the WinCC flexible project apply!

  1. Assignment of the e-mail address for alarm classes:

In order to send an SMS or e-mail when an alarm is triggered you must specify the mobile phone provider's e-mail address in the alarm class.

You can specify an e-mail recipient for each alarm class in the menu under "Project > Device > Alarm Management > Settings > Alarm Classes".

Note:
You can specify any valid e-mail address as recipient e-mail address (see Fig. 04) and it doesn't necessarily have to be an e-mail address of the same provider as the SMTP server. For example, you can specify the e-mail address "John.Doe@vodafone-sms.de" as recipient e-mail address and use the SMTP server (outgoing mail server) of T-Mobile ("mailto.t-online.de").

  1. Assigning the "SendEMail" system function:

If you wish to have an e-mail sent only in the case of a specific alarm, you should use the "SendeEMail" system function. In the project tree under "Device_1 > Alarm Management > Discrete Alarms" you can assign the "SendEMail" system function to each alarm under "Events". Analog alarms are configured in the same way.

Assigning parameters for "SendEMail"
For the parameters of the system function "SendEMail" you can assign predefined texts and addresses or assign "Tags" to each parameter.

In the example attached tag names have been assigned for the parameters "Address" and "Return address". In this way you have the option of changing the address (recipient of message) and the return address (address to which the message might have to be forwarded) later.

Note:
Not all the parameters of the "SendEMail" system function have to be assigned a text/tag.

The list is only a small selection of possible providers. Contact your provider for detailed information. Obtain information via the function:
"Enable mobile phone to receive e-mails from the Internet".
