Why can't you install the SQL server from WinCC V6.2 or WinCC V6.2 SP2 after installing WinCC flexible 2008?

Fault description:WinCC flexible 2008 is already installed and the WinCC V6.2 and WinCC V6.2 SP2 SQL server cannot be installed.
Cause:A possible cause is the influence of the different SQL instances that are installed product-specifically with the installation of WinCC flexible or WinCC.
It is imperative that you keep to the following installation sequence when you install WinCC V6.2 or WinCC V6.2 SP2 and WinCC flexible 2008:
  1. WinCC V6.2 or WinCC V6.2 SP2
  2. WinCC flexible 2008
If you have already installed WinCC flexible 2008, consider the following procedure.
Remedy:You can only install the SQL server from WinCC V6.2 or WinCC V6.2 SP2 if the WinCC flexible instance of the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition was deinstalled. WinCC flexible 2008 does not have to be deinstalled.
Procedure: The table below describes the deinstallation of the WinCC flexible instance of the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition:

  • Open the "Control Panel" of your operating system.
  • In the "Control Panel" click on "Software".
  • Select "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" and click on "Remove".

  • Click on "Next".

4 Installing WinCC and the SQL instance
  • Install WinCC V6.2 or WinCC V6.2 SP2
  • Start the "Setup.exe" file on the product DVD of WinCC flexible 2008 and execute the installation.
  • Accept the license agreements.
  • Click on "Next" and do not change the presettings in the following dialogs of the installation - see also Fig.04.

    Note:
    If the presettings are not changed only the WinCC flexible Instance of the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is installed.
     
  • Reboot the PC after installing the SQL instance for WinCC flexible 2008 again.

What settings have to be made for a PROFIBUS DP connection between a panel or a PC with WinCC flexible Runtime and an S7-200?

If you want to connect a WinCC flexible operator panel to an S7-200, make sure that the S7-200 can only be operated as DP slave.
The panel or PC must be implemented as DP master on the PROFIBUS DP network and the S7-200 as DP slave.
The following settings must therefore be made in the WinCC flexible configuration:
  • In WinCC flexible you configure a controller connection to the S7-200 via
    Project > Communication > Connections.

  • To be able to set up communication between the S7-200 as DP slave and the PC as DP master, you must set a check mark to enable "Only master on the bus".

Example:  Five PCs with WinCC flexible Runtime and PROFIBUS DP communicate with an S7-200. One PC is the DP master, i.e. the check mark for "Only master on the bus" is set only for this PC. There is no check mark for "Only master on the bus" set for the other PCs.

Now, if the master PC fails, all communication on the PROFIBUS DP network is interrupted, because there is then no other master available on the bus. As soon as the master PC comes back online (WinCC flexible Runtime is started and the controller connection is enabled), the other PC stations can set up a connection again to the S7-200. 
Recommendation:
Declare all the PCs to be master by setting a check mark for "Only master on the bus" for all of them, because then communication does not depend on just one PC.

The other settings for the PROFIBUS DP connection are to be entered accordingly.

On a PC the PG/PC interface must be set as "S7ONLINE --> PROFIBUS".

STEP 7 - Micro/WIN
With STEP 7-Micro/WIN the interface of the the S7-200 must be configured according to the parameters used in WinCC flexible.
Notes:
  • For a PROFIBUS DP communication at a baud rate > 187.5 kbaud you need a DP interface on the S7-200.
  • For the S7-22x without integrated DP interface you need an EM277 module for the PROFIBUS DP communication (baud rate > 187.5 kbaud).
  • More information on OP communication with S7-200 is available in "S7-200 and HMI Components" in Entry ID: 14188898.

Which ports are used by WinCC flexible?

Configuration Notes:The Ethernet ports are assigned by the IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority). When using a firewall you must enable all the ports specified in the table. All the services listed are handled via the TCP/IP protocol, except archiving via UDP.

1) Dynamic port:
The Microsoft Windows operating system automatically assigns the relevant service a free port that can be between Port 1024 and 65534. You must enable this area when using a firewall.
2) Archiving:
Requirement for archiving via an Ethernet network is that the server is enabled.
3) PROFINET
Communication via PROFINET must be activated in the "Control Panel", in the "PROFINET" Settings dialog.
Note:If you change the ports of the Sm@rtServer, you must change the links accordingly in the HTML pages used. More information on changing HTML pages is available in the Help system of WinCC flexible under "Example: Configuring an integrated web server".

1 Proceed as follows to integrate a WinCC flexible project in STEP 7.
  1. Open the WinCC flexible configuration.
  2. Select the menu command "Project > Integrate in STEP 7...".
    The "Integrate in STEP 7 projects" dialog opens.
  3. Select the relevant STEP 7 project in the dialog box.
    If the project you desire is not listed, navigate via the search field to the folder in which the STEP 7 project is located.
    Integration is executed once you select the STEP 7 project.

The STEP 7 project does not have to be open for this.
2 Parameterization of the connection / communication partnerIn the "Stand alone" mode you have set all the connection parameters to the controller manually.
In the "Integration" mode you can define the station via which the communication partner is to be addressed using the selection menu. The addresses are then transferred automatically.
Furthermore, using this measure with the tags, you can access the symbolic connection.
  1. Open the STEP 7 project in which you previously integrated the WinCC flexible project.
  2. Mark the HMI station and double-click to open the "Configuration" of the HMI station.
  3. Open the "Properties" of the operator panel's interface and define the interface and address.

  1. Switch to the WinCC flexible configuration and open the "Connections" in the project tree via "Communication > Connections".
  2. Select the relevant station under the "Station".
    The "Partner" and all the other parameters are transferred automatically.
This completes integration of the WinCC flexible project.
Possible causes of error when it is not possible to integrate a WinCC flexible project in STEP 7.
If the function for integrating the WinCC flexible project is grayed out or not available, this might be due to the following reasons.
  • You must install WinCC flexible Integration, because WinCC flexible was installed before STEP 7.

    Instructions
  1. Via the Control Panel you call the WinCC flexible Setup and change the installation.
    Control Panel/Software/SIMATIC WinCC flexible  Button: Change/Delete
  2. Activate the integration of STEP 7.
    The "WinCC flexible Integration" and "STEP 7" check boxes must be checked.
    (You need the WinCC flexible installation CD for this.)
Note
If you install the STEP 7 software before installing WinCC flexible, the WinCC installation routine recognizes the installation of STEP 7 and automatically installs support for integration in STEP 7.
If making a custom installation of WinCC flexible, make sure to activate the option "Integration in STEP 7".
  • If STEP 7 is already installed and you make an update for STEP 7, e.g. by installing a Service Pack, then you have to reinstall STEP 7 Integration in WinCC flexible.

    Instructions
  1. Via the Control Panel you call the WinCC flexible Setup and change the installation.
  2. Deactivate the integration of STEP 7.
  3. Then restart the Setup and activate the integration of STEP 7.
    (You need the WinCC flexible installation CD for this.)
You cannot integrate Micro Panels, e.g. a TP177micro, into STEP 7.

How do you send short messages (SMS) from an SIMATIC WinCC flexible HMI station to a mobile phone?

With WinCC flexible it is possible to send e-mails as short messages (SMS) to a mobile phone. You can send short messages with the following panels:
  • OP/TP177B color PN/DP
  • Mobile TP177 PN, Mobile Panel 277
  • 270 series
  • 370 series
  • PC with WinCC flexible Runtime

Example:
In case of failure the operator panel sends an e-mail (1) to the mixing station. The service technician responsible receives the message from the operator panel (2). The service technician then connects to the operator panel (3) from his service PC.

You have the following options for sending text messages or alarms via SMS to a mobile telephone or to a pager:

  • External providers make it possible to convert e-mails into SMS messages for mobile telephones and pagers.
  • Your own SMTP server supports forwarding of e-mails via SMS message to a mobile phone or pager.

Example for sending a message via SMS:

So that an SMS can be received the service must be registered beforehand with the provider, e.g. T-Mobile (in Germany).

  1. Activating e-mail reception with a provider (Example: T-Mobile):
    Send an SMS message from your mobile phone with the text "OPEN" to the T-Mobile abbreviated dialing number 8000. This opens your T-Mobile number for e-mail reception.
    Your e-mail address is then:
    T-Mobile number (incl. prefix)@t-mobile-sms.de
    e.g. 017100000000@t-mobile-sms.de.

    Up to 160 characters are transferred.

  1. Deactivating e-mail reception (Example: T-Mobile):
    If you no longer wish to receive e-mails, send an SMS message from your mobile phone with the text "CLOSE" to the T-Mobile abbreviated dialing number 8000.

  1. Configuration in WinCC flexible:

Note:
The e-mail functionality requires the license key "SIMATIC WinCC flexible / Sm@rtService".

In the WinCC flexible project tree "Bediengerät_1 > Device Settings > Device Settings", under "Name of SMTP server" you enter the name of the external provider or the name of your own SMTP server.

Note:
The provider must function without authentication. This means that the provider must work without user name and password.

You must make the settings under "Project > Device Settings" of the WinCC flexible project:

  • Name of the SMTP server
  • Name of the SMTP sender (as from WinCC flexible 2005)
  • SMTP authorization (as from WinCC flexible 2005)

Note:
The "Sm@rtService" option is required to implement this. To enable messages to be sent as e-mails as well, the HMI system must possess an e-mail client.

In the project attached "mailto.t-online.de" has been selected as SMTP server, because it doesn't need authentication.

Note:
The "Name of the SMTP sender" input field serves as the Return Address, in which you can specify the designation of the HMI operator panel or plant designation or its location, for example. You have the option of entering an e-mail address in the "SMTP Authentication" input field. If authentication at the provider is required, you must specify a valid e-mail address in the "SMTP Authentication" input field, e.g. "John.Doe@gmx.net".
Providers that require an authentication with user name and password are not supported.

Alternatively you can also define the e-mail settings on the operator panel in "WinCC Internet Settings" in the "E-mail" tab. On the Windows CE Panel the same settings are to be found in the "Control Panel". Then deselect the "Use the default of the project file" option and enter the name of the SMTP server in the input field. This makes it easier to change the server name.

Note:
Please note that settings on the panel or PC override settings in the project. Therefore, if the settings on the panel or PC are deleted, the defaults configured in the WinCC flexible project apply!

  1. Assignment of the e-mail address for alarm classes:

In order to send an SMS or e-mail when an alarm is triggered you must specify the mobile phone provider's e-mail address in the alarm class.

You can specify an e-mail recipient for each alarm class in the menu under "Project > Device > Alarm Management > Settings > Alarm Classes".

Note:
You can specify any valid e-mail address as recipient e-mail address (see Fig. 04) and it doesn't necessarily have to be an e-mail address of the same provider as the SMTP server. For example, you can specify the e-mail address "John.Doe@vodafone-sms.de" as recipient e-mail address and use the SMTP server (outgoing mail server) of T-Mobile ("mailto.t-online.de").

  1. Assigning the "SendEMail" system function:

If you wish to have an e-mail sent only in the case of a specific alarm, you should use the "SendeEMail" system function. In the project tree under "Device_1 > Alarm Management > Discrete Alarms" you can assign the "SendEMail" system function to each alarm under "Events". Analog alarms are configured in the same way.

Assigning parameters for "SendEMail"
For the parameters of the system function "SendEMail" you can assign predefined texts and addresses or assign "Tags" to each parameter.

In the example attached tag names have been assigned for the parameters "Address" and "Return address". In this way you have the option of changing the address (recipient of message) and the return address (address to which the message might have to be forwarded) later.

Note:
Not all the parameters of the "SendEMail" system function have to be assigned a text/tag.

What are the options for remote maintenance of a WinCC flexible Runtime system (Panel/PC) via the Internet (WAN)?

Introduction:
Using the options WinCC flexible / Sm@rtAccess and Sm@rtService you can also access a WinCC flexible Runtime system via the Internet. The connection can be made on the basis of an ISDN or DSL network.

Sample application:
Your customer wants you to set up external teleservicing of an operator panel in order to be able to access the operator panel via the Internet if there is a fault and if necessary, change the parameters via the operator panel and monitor the system values online.

The following questions arise concerning implementation of the configuration/task depicted:

  • How do I connect the panel to the WAN (Wide Area Network)?
  • Which hardware components are required?
  • What is the IP address of the panel to be accessed?
  • How reliable is the connection?
  • What settings have to be made?

Requirements for the operator panel:

  • HMI operator panels with Ethernet interface
  • HMI operator panel based on WinCC flexible

  1. Service PC communicates with n operator panels
    If several operator panels of a system are connected to the Internet via a router connection, it is possible to have different types of connection.

    This document considers two types of connection:

a) Communication between two networks on the basis of a standard router connection (port forwarding).
For this type of connection the standard functionality of the components implemented (router, PC etc.) is generally sufficient.

b) Communication between two networks based on a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
The characteristics of a VPN are high transmission reliability and high transparency when accessing the remote network.
Router requirements are higher and additional software is required.

The table provides practical examples of implementation for port forwarding and VPN.
